The casting for the upcoming Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is beginning to take shape and details surrounding the film are finally coming together.
Last week, we got to see our first sneak peek of Mr. Robot star Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, the iconic and legendary front man for the band. Today, we have some more awesome news regarding the upcoming film.
On Monday, Deadline reported that Mike Myers (Wayne’s World, Austin Powers) is reportedly in talks to appear in the film. Of course, it’s nearly impossible to hear the song Bohemian Rhapsody without having flashbacks to Myers as Wayne Campbell in the film Wayne’s World. We are, of course, talking about that epic carpool scene where Wayne, Garth (Dana Carvey) and their buddies are lip syncing to the classic tune. Need a refresher or just want to relive that awesome moment? Check out the clip from Wayne’s World below:
Myers’ role has not yet been finalized and details haven’t been released just yet but we are sure that he will rock whatever role he takes on in the film.
The biopic has been in development for quite some time with Bryan Singer (X-Men) onboard to direct. Based on a screenplay by Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything), the film will have Brian May and Roger Taylor, both original members of Queen, serving as music producers.
