‘Arrow’: Josh Segarra on why Prometheus was such an Effective Villain

Arrow fans can agree that Prometheus, the season five villain, was one of the best that the series has seen in a long time.

He was wicked, twisted and just upfront evil. He made his mission to destroy Oliver’s life, and take everything away from him, and he may (or may not) have been the most successful at doing that.

In a recent interview with Cinema Blend, Actor Josh Segarra, who played Prometheus on the show, explained why he felt that Adrian Chase was so effective.

“I think what made Chase a fun character to play is he had one mission, it wasn’t complicated, it didn’t get muddled, and he has been plotting this for years. The dude went through law school just to kill someone. He’s a fantastic lawyer! That’s all secondary,”

Wow. Law School is one of the hardest schools to get in to, and if you really think about it that is a lot of dedication to the mission. Most people would study up to go to Law School so that they could make the world a better place… not take down an enemy.

Segarra pointed out that although Chase may have ultimately died in the end, but even in death, he will continue to torment Oliver. How would he do so, being dead and all? Well for one, we don’t exactly know WHO died on Lian Yu, but we do know that Oliver will be missing some pretty important people from his life when the series returns. In addition to that, Segerra believes that Chase used Felicity to do it also.

“When it came to Felicity I think that he knows that that’s the most vulnerable point this man has, you know? It’s who he cares about most. It’s who I can save until the very end. He went through Susan, tried it [went] ‘eh, next.’ Went through the crew, ‘eh, NEXT.’ Then he got to her. The mission was the one and only, so I think that’s what he knew at the end,”

Arrow returns to The CW on October 12th at 9PM/EST on The CW.
