Taylor Swift Drops New Single “…Ready For It?”
Shortly after Taylor Swift took over Spotify and YouTube when she released her smashing hit “Look What You Made Me Do” she has released her second single off her new album Reputation.
The song is called “…Ready For It” and was teased during Saturday’s Florida State vs. Alabama game on ESPN. Swift also teased the song on her Instagram page.
The song is one of Taylor’s staple relationship jams, but really focuses on the start of a new relationship and having to deal with the baggage that comes along with yourself and your partner before it.
The first verse touches on what you know before you start a relationship: Knew he was a killer/ First time that I saw him/ Wondered how many girls/ he had loved and left haunted/ But if he’s a ghost then/ I can be a phantom/ Holding him for ransom/ Some, some boys are trying too hard/ He don’t try at all, though/ Younger than my exes/ But he act like such a man, so/ I see nothing better/ I keep him forever/ Like a vendetta…”
While the second verse touches on Swift’s reputation: “Knew I was a robber/ First time that he saw me/ Stealing hearts and running off and never saying ‘sorry’/ But if I’m a thief then/ He can join the heist and/ We’ll move to an island/ and, and, he can be my jailer/ Burton to this Taylor/ Every love I’ve known in comparison is a failure/ I forget their names now/ I’m so very tame now/ never be the same now…”
While it probably won’t have the overwhelming and immediate success that “Look What You Made Me Do” had, “…Ready For It” is still a great jam that brings us one step closer to Swift’s next full album.
“…Ready for It?” is available on iTunes for pre-order, Spotify, YouTube, and other streaming platforms.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
