Sunday’s episode is going to be huge in several ways. For one, it’s the season 7 finale of what has been a crazy season of Game of Thrones.
The episode will be super long, clocking at a massive 79 minutes and 43 seconds long. That means it will break the record as the longest episode of Game of Thrones yet-even longer than this week’s “Beyond The Wall”. Of course this is preparing us for the final season, where the episodes are rumored to be running close to the length of a feature film.
The title of the episode was released Tuesday: “The Dragon and the Wolf.”
We know where the dragon comes in. We’ve got two, and the army now has ripped one from our cold dead hands, only to give it cold dead claws. We also know from the preview, that everyone we love and hate on the show will be meeting this Sunday night to discuss the terrible and unforgiveable threat of the Night King and his army of dragon killing monsters.
Now where does the wolf come in? Perhaps Arya’s encounter with her Direwolf Nymeria earlier in the season was foreshadowing her return. It could also hint that Jon Snow’s dire wolf Ghost will reappear to fight. Will they ban together and help in the battle? Is there something we don’t know about the giant creatures? Perhaps when combined with the force of dragons, Direwolves are unstoppable. I mean we can dream right?
I know everyone’s eyes will be open for this next episode to leak before air, like the previous few have.
After this episode, we will be waiting until late 2018 or even 2019 to see the final season, which begins production in October.
“The Dragon and The Wolf” premieres this Sunday on HBO.
