WATCH: Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman and Ben Stiller Shine in the Trailer for Netflix’s ‘The Meyerowitz Stories’

Earlier this year, Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman, Ben Stiller, and Emma Thompson stunned audiences at the Cannes Film Festival with a viewing of the upcoming Netflix film The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected).  Amidst the controversy surrounding Netflix submissions at the festival, the film received an astounding four-minute standing ovation after the premiere viewing and is already the focus of some Oscar buzz!

The film is a drama/comedy combo (or a dramedy) and follows Sandler and Stiller who play estranged brothers who are brought back together when their father (Hoffman) is hospitalized.  Their father is a sculptor and the two half brothers come together to celebrate his life’s work.  Thompson plays Sandler and Stiller’s mother and Hoffman’s wife.

Check out the new teaser trailer for the film below:

Noah Baumbach directs a stellar cast which has been receiving unbounded praise since the film’s premiere.  Many of them even specifically praising Sandler for an outstanding performance and for breaking away from his typical silly comedy style of film to take on a more serious role.  Many critics are even saying Sandler’s performance is worthy of an Oscar nomination!  He’s come a long way since SNL!

The film will be making its stateside debut at the New York Film Festival in September and will be available via Netflix as well as in select theaters on October 13th.  The official film description from Netflix is below:

“From writer/director Noah Baumbach, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected) is the emotional, and comic intergenerational tale of adult siblings (Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, and Elizabeth Marvel) contending with the long shadow their strong-willed father (Dustin Hoffman) has cast over their lives. With an original screenplay by Baumbach, the film also stars Emma Thompson, Grace Van Patten, Adam Driver, Candice Bergen, Judd Hirsch, and Rebecca Miller. The film was produced by Scott Rudin, Baumbach, Lila Yacoub, and Eli Bush.”
