‘COLONY’ Co-creator Carlton Cuse Brokers Deal with ABC

Carlton Cuse has brokered a new production deal with ABC as reported by Variety.

Cynthia Littleton posted on Variety August 15th about a new lucrative arrangement between Carlton Cuse and ABC. Cuse is not new to ABC as he had a relationship with them previously while working on the popular television series LOST. Click here for the full article published by Variety.

Of course, Colony fans know Carlton Cuse as the fearless co-leader of USA Network’s dystopian series going into its third season. Colony follows the Bowman family headed up by Will and Katie played by Josh Holloway and Sarah Wayne Callies, respectively, as they seek escape from mysterious hosts who have colonized Earth.

Variety shared several key components of the partnership Cuse has launched with ABC:

  • It’s a four year deal with an 8 figure price tag.
  • Cuse’s new production company is called Genre Arts.
  • The company will set up shop on the Disney lot.
  • Lindsey Springer has been named president of Genre Arts.

Interestingly, the announcement of Cuse’s deal with ABC follows recent word from producer Shonda Rimes that she is leaving ABC and heading to Netflix. It’s sounds like a bit of studio musical chairs.

Littleton also points out in the article that “Cuse is highly regarded for his ability to help promising writers blossom as series creators and showrunners”, one of those, of course, being Ryan Condal, his creative partner on Colony.

Fans of Colony are a passionate bunch chomping at the bit for season 3 to revisit favorite characters such as Alan Snyder and the Bowman family who have recently departed the Los Angeles Colony. Fans are also wondering what happens to another fan favorite, Eric Broussard, who chose not to join the group fleeing Los Angeles.

New season, new answers. Or at least we can hope!
