Life Imitates Art as Bill Murray Attends Broadway’s ‘Groundhog Day’ Musical Two Days in a Row

Life Imitates Art as Bill Murray Attends Broadway's 'Groundhog Day' Musical Two Days in a Row

Well, it’s Groundhog Day…. Again!  But this time, the deja vu of a day involved the real life Bill Murray and what could be, perhaps, the most awesome case of “life imitating art” in history because, well, it involves Bill freaking Murray and he’s the best!

On Tuesday night, Murray attended a showing of the Broadway musical version of his film Groundhog Day for the first time!  The film, which originally debuted in 1993 starred Murray as Phil Connors, a news broadcaster who, by some sort of magical force, had to relive the same day, Groundhog Day, over and over and over again until he got it just right.  The musical premiered earlier this year and has been getting great reviews from fans and critics alike.  Those attending the show Tuesday night were stoked to see Murray in the audience and many of them posted to social media to express their excitement.

As if one night of Bill Murray wasn’t awesome enough, the acting legend decided to, once again, relive the same day over again when he attended the musical for a second time on Wednesday night!  Of course, the reference to the film was not lost on fans.  Murray was Groundhog Day-ing the Groundhog Day musical!  Check out some of our favorite tweets of people  flipping out over Murray’s second appearance:

Bill Murray is clearly a national treasure and he’s one of our favorite people ever!  For those wondering what Murray thought of the musical, he LOVED it!  After the first viewing, Murray was quoted as saying, “It was really beautiful. You got me. You really got me.”  On the second night, Groundhog Day actor Travis Waldschmidt, quoted Murray as saying, “This show should be mandatory.”
