Greetings, fellow gamers! You know, as much as I look forward to rushing out and buying the newest and coolest video game, I occasionally like to stop, dust off an ‘older’ video game and pop it in the console. (My bank account also likes when I occasionally do this, because something old can be like something new, right?).
This week the game I chose to do was The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. As I began playing this, I remembered exactly how much fun it was! I have been a long time fan of the Zelda franchise from the very beginning, and it is definitely one of those franchises where I absolutely HAVE to have the latest one. (That’s when my bank account hates me).
Windwaker is the 10th installment in the Zelda series, and has been ranked as one of the best versions – next to Ocarina of Time, of course! It was released in 2003 for Gamecube, but has recently been Remastered for the Wii U.
The game primarily takes place over a group of islands in a vast sea, which was a first for the series. In the game you play as Link as he attempts to save his sister from the wicked sorcerer Ganon, who is searching for the Princess Zelda. Link makes friends with a pirate named Tetra, a talking boat named the King of Red Lions, and Tingle! Link sails the ocean, explores islands, and traverses dungeons to acquire the power necessary to defeat Ganon. Wind, which facilitates sailing, plays a prominent role, and can be controlled with a magic conductor’s baton called the Wind Waker.
Also, did I mention the music in the film is quite fantastic!?
I probably didn’t do the game enough justice, so be sure to check out the trailer for the game below:
Who else remembers this game!?
