Here’s the Scoop on the Future of FX’s ‘Louie’, ‘American Crime Story: Katrina’ and ‘Fargo’

Today at FX’s 2017 TCA panel, President and General Manager John Landgraf gave the audience some updates on the status on a few of the network’s shows that are up still in the air.

When asked about a new of season of Louis C.K.’s critically acclaimed show, Landgraf said,”I really don’t have any update on season six. I think it’s possible there will never be another season of Louie.

However, he also made a point to tell the crowd that it’s never certainly off the table. He still talks with C.K. about his contract with FX from time to time. “I think if it ever comes back it will be a really different show. I’ve got my fingers crossed. I still talk to him…it hasn’t come up for a while,” he said.

C.K later chimed in on the discussion and Landgraf’s statements saying,  “For me, I don’t think the version of Louie that was on FX, I don’t think I’ll do that exact version again, ‘cause I just haven’t been that guy for a while—the, you know, stained black t-shirt and two kids. They’re older now and I’m an older dad. I always thought that if I did Louie again I would circle back to it later, with a different version. No idea if that’ll happen. I don’t think about it much.”

So, while it may not seem too promising in the near future the fact that both the creator and the network aren’t counting it out is a good sign.

American Crime Story: Katrina

American Crime Story: Katrina was originally supposed to be the follow up to American Crime Story’s first season, The People v O.J. Simpson, but has now been pushed until sometime after  The Assassination of Gianni Versace. According to Landgraf, however, Creator Ryan Murphy has made a “creative pivot.”

“I’m confident that it will air. I’m really, really excited. It was a big creative pivot we made. It was a difficult decision…the bar is really high for this franchise and we just weren’t confident that we were able to hit it,” Landgraf said.

Fargo

One other show with another unknown future was Noah Hawley’s Fargo. Hawley is currently working on the sophomore season of Legion and has not discussed an idea for the fourth season with the network.

“I hope so. I haven’t heard—we haven’t heard the idea from Noah for what the fourth season would be. I think what we’ve encouraged Noah to do is think about it…there’s at least some possibility he won’t have that idea for some period of time…some possibility that we’ll hear that idea sometime soon,” Landgraf said when asked.

So, it seems that a lot of these shows are still very much up in the air, but the good news is that they aren’t completely off the table just yet!
