11 Netflix Movies That Are Perfect for a Lazy Sunday

Captain America: Civil War

Nothing beats a good superhero flick and Captain America: Civil War is just that. It’s basically a mini Avengers movie, has a great plot, and some totally awesome action scenes. Not to mention there’s a lot of humor, which makes it a well-balanced watch and there’s Spiderman. Case closed.

Trolls

Trolls makes for a really fun lazy Sunday watch. If you’re looking for something cute and upbeat with a great soundtrack, this is the perfect movie. It’s got the voices of Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake with a wonderful supporting cast. The movie is great for kids but adults will enjoy the adventures of Poppy and Branch just as much.

Masterminds

Comedic treasures Kristen Wiig and Zach Galifinakis team up in this hilarious movie about two people who attempt to rob an armored truck. If you’re looking for something that doesn’t require too much thinking and will provide some laughs then definitely give this one a shot. It’s packed full of celebrity cameos and some totally amazing wardrobes as well.

13 Going on 30

What’s not to love about a young Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo? 13 Going on 30 is the perfect romantic comedy choice because it’s got the laughs but also a lot of heart. This movie was huge when it first came out and it still has a lot of adoring fans today, so give it a rewatch or do yourself a favor and watch it for the first time!

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

It’s probably been a hot minute since you watched the Pirates film that started it all so why not take a trip down memory lane and see Johnny Depp come alive as Captain Jack Sparrow for the first time? It’s got an adorable Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley plus it’s packed with sharp humor and the best plot of all the films. You can’t beat the OG Pirates, that’s a fact. Plus, you can even watch this then start a marathon for a whole day of swashbuckling fun.

The Founder

Michael Keaton’s 2016 film told the story of Ray Kroc, a salesman who turned two brothers’ innovative fast food eatery, McDonald’s, into one of the biggest restaurant businesses in the world. The film got great reviews and puts out wonderful performances by Keaton and Nick Offerman. You’ll learn a lot of impressive facts about McDonalds that will be sure to come in handy some day…maybe.

Sing Street

Sing Street follows a boy growing up in Dublin during the 1980s as escapes his strained family life by starting a band to impress the mysterious girl he likes. It takes place in Ireland, has a phenomenal soundtrack, and is full of youth and life. It’s definitely a good pick for anyone who is looking for some great music, fun, and a little bit of drama.

Lion

This Oscar Nominated movie received wonderful reviews and was a huge contender at the Academy Awards last year. IMDB describes the movie as the telling of a five-year-old Indian boy who gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia. 25 years later, he sets out to find his lost family.

Southpaw

If you’re looking for something more on the action/drama side, look no further than Kurt Sutter’s boxing film Southpaw, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams. Sutter has always been great with character work (see Sons of Anarchy) and Southpaw is no different as you watch Boxer Billy Hope try to get his life back on track after a series of unfortunate events.

The Last Five Years

If you’re looking for a musical then look no further than The Last Five Years. It stars the ever talented Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan as they sing their way through the ups and downs of their marriage. The music is wonderful and it’s amplified by the live singing of Kendrick and Jordan. The story is told by two different perspectives and you will find yourself totally enthralled by Jamie and Cathy’s romance.

The Shining

I mean, it’s a classic.
