WATCH: Kansas Gave an Epic Surprise Performance at the ‘Supernatural’ SDCC Panel

Any fan of Supernatural knows that there is only one song that’s important – “Carry on My Wayward Son” by Kansas. It essentially has become the theme song for the series and typically plays at the beginning of season finales as they recap what’s happened that season (below).

Well this year, the thousands of fans at the Supernatural Hall H panel had a lot more than just  Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins to get excited about. The panel kicked off pretty normal with a video message from Sam and Dean (Padalecki and Ackles), but before the lights came back on “Carry on My Wayward Son” started playing and people began to realize that was no ordinary audio track – it was live. Kansas took the stage and performed the show staple and people went absolutely nuts!

The last thing that you’d probably expect at a comic-con panel would be a concert, but leave it to Supernatural who have been doing these for over a decade to really bring things to the next level.  There are a few videos of the performance on YouTube. I was able to find one that had the Winchester’s intro video and the opening of Kansas along with another video that is a lot clearer of the band’s performance.

Be sure to check out the exclusive photos below the videos. Enjoy!
