Be Prepared for Some Serious Nostalgia in this Behind-the-Scenes Video from ‘The Lion King’ Recording Studio

I think it’s safe to say that The Lion King is one of the most iconic Disney movies of all time. The 1994 Academy Award winning movie is still the third highest-grossing film of Walt Disney Animation Studios today.

Nearly 23 years later there is still so much to discover about this animated treasure, which is evident now as new behind-the-scenes footage from the voice actors in the recording studio was recently unearthed.

The clip shows the recording of Scar’s villainous number “Be Prepared” featuring, of course, Scar (Jeremy Irons) and his cackling hyenas (Whoopi Goldberg, Cheech Marin, and Jim Cummings). It’s really cool to see the actors in their awesome 90’s wear recording as the film plays out right next to them.

Also, James Earl Jones (Mufasa) makes a quick cameo and it will probably give you chills. Thankfully, he has been cast to reprise his role as the OG King of the Pridelands in Jon Favreau’s upcoming Disney live remake, which was a good move because he is literally the only person allowed to voice Mufasa. Check out the video below!
