Did Ryan Murphy Just Drop a Major Hint Showing How Every Season of ‘American Horror Story’ is Linked?

It’s been a long-time fan theory that each season of American Horror Story is connected though, no one could ever really pinpoint just how exactly that was possible.  Certain characters have had reoccurring roles in multiple seasons which has pretty much confirmed the theory.  For example,  Twisty the Clown’s teased appearance in the upcoming season 7 of the series is a clear cross over from season 4’s Freak Show.  But, fans know, when it comes to the mind of Ryan Murphy, everything relating to the series has a purpose and a deeper meaning.  So, just how are all the seasons of American Horror Story connected?

Using his preferred means of communication these days, Murphy posted a serious teaser or perhaps even a down-right confirmation to Instagram possibly showing just how everything is connected.

His post, shown below with in unassuming caption of, “Interesting,” focuses on something called the 9 Circles of Hell or, it’s also known as Dante’s Inferno.  Dante’s Inferno is the first portion of Dante’s Divine Comedy which is widely regarded as one of the greatest literary works of all time.  The story is essentially a poem which portrays Dante’s travels through hell, purgatory and, eventually heaven.  The 9 Circles of Hell are regarded as limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud, and treachery.  According to Murphy’s Instagram post, each season of American Horror Story, including Cult the upcoming 7th season, relates to one of the named circles of hell.

If this theory is actually the truth, it’s pretty cool to finally see how everything links together but, this theory also leads to some bigger questions.  If all the seasons of American Horror Story correlate to one of the circles of hell, does that mean that season 9 will be the end of the series?  And will this theory every officially be addressed within the series?
