SDCC: Jason Momoa Makes a Splash with his ‘Aquaman’ Trident

One of the highlight events of San Diego Comic-Con took place in Hall H on Saturday.  The Warner Bros. Presentation Panel promised a two-hour presentation showcasing some of the amazing films the studio will be creating in the next few years.

One of the most highly-anticipated of the Warner Bros. films is Aquaman starring Jason Momoa as the title character (also known as Arthur Curry) along with Amber Heard (who is playing Mera), Patrick Wilson (who is playing the villainous Ocean Master), Nicole Kidman (who is playing Queen Atlanna), Dolph Lundgren (who is playing King Nereus) and Willem Dafoe (who is playing Nuidis Vulko).

Momoa was at the panel to introduce some amazing new footage from the upcoming James Wan film.  The footage hasn’t been released to the public but, we are guessing once DC’s next film, Justice League, hits theaters, maybe we will get to see some Hall H goodness.  Until then, we have a description of what was shown:

The clip begins with two fishermen out at sea.  Bobby Darin’s famous song Beyond the Sea is playing on their radio only, the version being played is in a foreign language.  They get a hit on their fishing lines, something big, which first begins to pull the line out slowly and, suddenly, the whole boat is being pulled through the water.  The two men bravely look down into the water and are shocked by what they see.  As the camera moves down into the water, we see it’s actually an army of gigantic manta rays, sharks and other underwater creatures storming through the open seas.  The clip ends with a shot of Jason Momoa holding up his trident before the screen becomes engulfed in waves.

Momoa decided to add a little bit of live-action theater to the previewing of his clip.  Clearly pumped, at the end of the preview, he actually rocks out on stage with Aquaman‘s trident in hand.  He does some serious air guitaring and totally pumps up the crowd.  Does he break the stage there at the end? Check it out:

We love Jason Momoa and can’t wait to see the Aquaman stand-alone films.  Momoa first appeared as the character in Batman V. Superman in 2016 and will also be playing the role in the upcoming Justice League film which also dropped new footage over the SDCC weekend.

Aquaman will be splashing down into theaters on October 5, 2018.
