Christoper Nolan on Hiding Tom Hardy’s Face ‘Dunkirk’

Christopher Nolan is the talk of the entertainment industry as his film Dunkirk blew fans away all across the world. It’s a film full of emotion, heart, desperation to live, and it runs off of very little dialogue. This way, you don’t know the characters and their stories so there’s no room for empathy or sympathy for who they were before the war, you just know them for who they are in those moments.

Without a lot of dialogue, the actors had to be able to carry important scenes with their emotions and every single one of them impressed us more than we can say. It’s going to be hard, across all genres, to put out a film with the staying power or the impact that Dunkirk has.

Some film buffs noticed that Hardy’s face is covered in a lot of his films and pointed it out on social media.

In response, Nolan joked about Hardy’s face being obscured in ‘Dunkirk’ before saying that Hardy blew him out of the water, as usual, even with 80% of his face covered for almost the entire movie.

I thought let’s see what he can do with no forehead, no real eyebrows, maybe one eye. Of course, Tom – being Tom, what he does with single eye acting is far beyond what anyone else can do with their whole body. That is just the unique talent of the man, he’s extraordinary.’

We have to agree with Nolan, Hardy is an incredibly talented actor and when you put a talent like that alongside the talent that is Nolan – you’re going to get gold no matter what their costume requires.
