SDCC: Marvel Releases new ‘Black Panther’ Footage

Marvel fans are rejoicing today as SDCC caters to all things superheroes. From Thor and Captain America to Guardians of the Galaxy and Hulk, Marvel is owning the convention center this afternoon and it’s an experience that you can only accurately describe if you’re here.

However, that doesn’t mean those at home have to miss out on the great trailers or panel information. Guests at SDCC are great about making sure anyone at home refreshing hashtags like it’s their job get the information quickly. So when those in attendance were posting about the shown footage, there were some great descriptions available.

Now, when the first Black Panther trailer debuted, we were amazed. This is the superhero movie we’ve been waiting for and the cast knew that. They realized the impact of the roles they were taking on and they gave their all, and then some, to this film. The EW Comic-Con edition with exclusive photos and information about the film was incredible.

However, this new footage? It left the audience absolutely speechless, and that doesn’t happen often. We see T’Challa trying to navigate being king after his father was killed in Captain America: Civil War and those around him doing what they can to help keep Wakanda safe, but not in the way you might imagine.

The footage starts off in a casino with T’Challa, Okoye, and Nakia in South Korea where they’re in search of a Vibranium poacher named Ulysses Klaue. The last time he was seen in the Marvel Universe was when he was losing his arm in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He’s there to meet Everett Ross where an exchange is expected. A tiny scrap of Vibranium for diamonds.

From there, Okoye is ready to fight and Nakia tells her to stand down, however, she doesn’t listen and the entire operation goes up in smoke.

T’Challa leaps down effortlessly (and in just a suit)where he comes face to face with Klaue and within moments has to dodge a lethal blast.

Then, more of a trailer was shown (what we anticipate will hit the internet sooner than later) and the takeaway from that footage was T’Challa and Erik Killmonger locked in battle and Killmonger ends up sporting a ‘Black Panther’ suit of his own, that just happens to be golden.

We can’t wait until the trailer hits social media, but until then, we have to say that the footage has to be one of the three best shown at SDCC this weekend. As soon as you see it, we’re sure you’ll agree.
