SDCC: Marvel Brings ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Trailer to San Diego

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here, the trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War has just been shown and it’s better than we ever could have imagined. When the trailer was shown at the D23 Expo recently, the audience stood in roaring applause for the trailer but watched in complete silence – much like the audience at SDCC. You could have heard a pin drop (had it not been for the sound of the trailer, of course) and after its conclusion, there was no room for anything but praise and excitement.

Which is exactly what Marvel deserves for pulling off a film like Infinity War so incredibly. The team behind the scenes and in front of the camera have given their all, and then some, to giving the superheroes the storyline they deserve. After Civil War, lines were drawn and feelings were hurt but now, the Avengers will have to come together to fight Thanos, and those broken ties will either be rebonded or severed forever.

With heavy hearts, the Avengers do assemble to fight, but will it be enough? The first look at the trailer was enough to pull on our heart strings.

You first see the Guardians happen upon wreckage in space when a body slams into their windshield. That body happens to be Thor and they immediately bring him in where Mantis revives him. He doesn’t know the Guardians and no one knows what he’s been through.

Moving to Earth, the planet is being attacked by an outside force and Scarlet Witch looks to be fighting against something. Peter Parker is seen with the hairs on his arm rising – his spider-senses kicking in – and he’s seen later in battle wearing the Spider-Man suit from Homecoming.

You also see Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Bruce Banner, and Star Lord together. Black Widow is shown and she has blonde hair. Gamora is seen with a sad look on her face. Iron Man is back in his suit and ready for action while Captain America is seen looking like he’s been through…well…hell and it’s clear he’s been away for a while.

There’s a shot of Ant-Man in battle and you also see Black Panther gathering his troops. Loki is standing in ruins raising the cosmic cube and he looks like he’s tearing up.

Thanos is seen squishing Thor’s head and striking Iron Man and quite frankly, the looks on all of our faces after seeing that trailer look much like the looks on the faces of the superheroes we love. There’s a sense of being defeated.

Thanos is evil, there’s no getting around that, but there’s also no stopping our heroes, even if they fall weak in moments. It’ll be a fight, it’ll be a war, but their strength will return, even if in waves.

We all thought we were prepared for Infinity War before, but now we’re glad we’ve got a bit more time to prepare. This will be a fight unlike any we’ve seen out of the MCU so far, and it’ll be the thing that changes everything.
