Something Wicked This Way Comes: Dynamite to Publish New ‘Charmed’ Graphic Novel

Charmed ruled TV screens from 1999-2006, centring around a trio of badass sisters who just happened to be witches. The series chronicled their constant struggle for balance between being the most powerful force of good the world has ever known, and being modern women who have lives outside of demon-vanquishing, gender-swapping to catch a succubus, and stopping a group of little old ladies from knitting a new skin-sack for a totally evil entity. People weren’t sure Charmed would survive when eldest sister Prue Halliwell (played by Shannen Doherty) was killed off, but with the departure of Prue came the introduction of sassy half-sister Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan). There were some growing pains along the way, but Paige remained on the series until its celebrated end. Shortly thereafter, Zenescope continued the adventures of the Halliwell sisters by publishing seasons 9 and 10 in comic book format. When Zenescope chose to drop the license, Dynamite Entertainment swooped in, putting out a brand new series that will be published in trade paperback format in October of 2017.

Something wicked this way comes (again!) as Dynamite has just announced a new, original Charmed graphic novel. The graphic novel will be manga-style, with the talents of freelance writer Katy Rex, and freelance illustrator Amanda Schank. Jen Bartel (Jem and the Holograms) will be doing the cover. They’ll be taking Piper, Phoebe, and Paige on a brand new, 104-page magical adventure:

A blend of supernatural fantasy, horror, humor and heart, the Charmed Manga introduces Delia, a young girl learning to live with her burgeoning supernatural powers. When she accidentally unleashes them – with disastrous results – at her school, the incident gets the attention of Phoebe, Piper, and Paige Halliwell: three witches with a lot of experience managing magical abilities. With the assistance of the sisters and the Magic School, Delia begins to make a new life for herself, but magic has a way of getting out of control…

Charmed, the supernatural television sensation, returns in an all-new tale of magic and mystery… but this time, the adventures of the Halliwell Sisters are told as manga!
Delia, a young girl with blossoming and uncontrollable supernatural powers, accidentally unleashes her powers in a school. A danger to herself and others, she draws the attention of Phoebe, Piper, and Paige – three witches with experience managing innate abilities! With their help, Delia begins to make a new life for herself… but magic has a way of getting out of control, and it’s only a matter of time before this incredibly powerful novice draws the unwanted attention of sinister forces!

It’s slated for release in February.
