See the Trailer for Magnolia Pictures new film ‘Lemon’

Have you ever had one of those ‘absolutely nothing is going right for me’ moments? Maybe it’s a fleeting thought, maybe it’s something that lasts for a few days, or perhaps it’s a feeling that sticks. Sometimes, it’s just easy to get caught up in a bit of self-pity. Other times, it feels like absolutely nothing at all is moving forward and that you’re stuck in the mundane, forever.

That’s the unfortunate story of Issac Lachmann in the upcoming film Lemon. He’s got a life that’s not exactly exciting, and while it could be worse, he’s not trying to test his luck. Instead, he sits back and watches as all of the things in his life fall apart.

The film stars Brett Gelman Judy Greer, Michael Cera, Shiri Appleby, Rhea Perlman, Gillian Jacobs, Martin Starr, Megan Mullally and Jeff Garlin and the premise is as follows.

Isaac Lachmann is a dud. Isaac Lachmann is 40. Isaac Lachmann is a man in free fall immobilized by mediocrity. His career is going nowhere. His girlfriend of ten years is leaving him. And his overbearing family doesn’t help matters. What did he do to deserve this? Things were supposed to work out differently for him. Isaac Lachmann had big dreams. Now he just watches as life unravels.

The trailer for the film premiered today and from getting dumped via his answering machine to crying in a car – he really does just sit and watch his life unravel.

IndieWire chief film critic Eric Kohn saw the movie at Sundance and had this to say about it. He said Lemon called Lemon the ‘kind of movie that makes you laugh and flinch in equal measures, and despite some messier twists, never ceases to move in surprising directions.’
