A Fan Fest Guide to Throwing an Epic ‘Game of Thrones’ Watch Party

Your patience has paid off, wildlings. We are only a few days away from the season premiere of Game of Thrones and the anticipation is killing us! When it comes to huge shows like Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, and even The Bachelorette people are all about having watch parties.

So, what better way to kick off Season 7 then to throw a legit premiere party? Get all of your friends together for a Sunday evening of themed food, drinks, and season long games.

Everyone knows that at a party everyone gathers in the kitchen. So, you have to make sure your food selection is on point and in theme! Take a look at some of these easy examples.

If you’re throwing a Game of Thrones party and you aren’t serving alcohol you need to be tossed out of a sky cell pronto.

Wine

Ice & Fire

This classic Game of Thrones saying deserves it’s own category and boy do I have a treat for you. It’s simple really – Fireball shots and an ice luge. You can purchase an ice luge here.

 

Cocktails

The White Walker

Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour white chocolate liqueur halfway up the glass. Fill the rest of the glass up with vanilla cream soda.

The Kinglsayer

1 oz bourbon
1 oz Goldschlager (or any other liquor with gold flakes)
1 1/2 oz Grand Marnier (or any other orange liqueur) juice of half a lemon

Pour some ice into a short glass (old-fashioned). Add all the ingredients and stir. Garnish by dropping a thin lemon slice into the glass, it should float. Courtesy of A Heaping Spoonful.

Mother of Dragons

3 balls of dragon fruit cut out using 1/2 tsp spoon
Rosé champagne

Scoop the balls of dragon fruit out and place them in a champagne flute. Top with the Rosé. Courtesy of A Heaping Spoonful.

The Littlefinger

1 oz tequila
1 oz fresh orange juice
Quarter of an orange slice for garnish

Pour all the chilled ingredients into a cordial glass and drop the small orange slice into the glass for garnish.

It’s literally in the title!

Before the Show

Sigil Game

  1. Print out the cards from this printable version from Peach Party Love
  2. Fold along the dotted line prior to playing so only you can see the correct answers
  3. Divide into teams and determine which team will go first
  4. Show team 1 the first picture and let them guess which House the Sigil belongs to
    1. If they get it right they get a point
    2. If they get it wrong it goes to the other team
  5. Determine points how you see fit

Motto Match

  1. Print out however many copies for teams you will have
    1. Motto Match Game Sheet
    2. Motto Match Answer Sheet
  2. Give each team one sheet and one pen
  3. They have 2 minutes to complete the sheet by matching the motto to the House
  4. Once the time is up read out the answers
  5. The team with the most correct answers gets the points

Death Watch

  1. Print out however many copies for teams you will have
    1. Death Watch Game Sheet
    2. Death Watch Answer Sheet
  2. Give each team one sheet and one pen
  3. They have 2 minutes to complete the sheet by writing out how each character died
  4. Once the time is up read out the answers
  5. The team with the most correct answers gets the points
    1. one point for guessing the cause of death
    2. one point for guessing who was the killer

During the Show

Bingo

Before the show starts, fill out some squares on this empty bingo card. Then when your guests arrive you can try and come up with some as a group. The first person to get BINGO wins!

Drinking Games

There’s always the classic drinking game that you can play throughout the episode. While there really aren’t many for the new season out yet you could recycle one from season 6 like the one below.

Or you can make up your own game! Here are some ideas from Austin360.

  1. Take a drink every time you see a White Walker
  2. Take a shot every time someone dies
  3. Take two drinks every time Tyrion throws out a dope insult
  4. Drink every time somebody mentions winter
  5. Finish your drink if you get characters’ names confused
  6. Take a drink every time a Lannister does (these guys drink a lot)
  7. Take a drink every time somebody calls Jon Snow the “King in the North”
