‘Marvel’ releases touching tribute in honor of Joan Lee

This week, comic fans all across the world mourned the death of Joan Lee, wife of comic book legend Stan Lee. Joan and Stan recently celebrated their 70 years of marriage, in a sweet and heartfeld tale in which we learned Stan proposed to Joan on their first date.

Just a few days ago, Marvel posted a touching video in remembrance of Joan. In the video, Stan Lee recalls how they met and how Joan inspired the entire Marvel Universe.

In a statement underneath the clip, Marvel wrote that the video is from an April 14, 2017, interview where Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada sat down with Stan Lee at Paley Center. Marvel had originally planned to release the series of videos from the event later this year, but felt that now was an appropriate time to pay tribute to Joan Lee.

In the video, Stan talks about how they first met and it was just love at first site. He then continues to talk about how when he worked for Timely Comics, which would one day become Marvel Comics. There was a point and time in which Stan wanted to quit, but Joan urged him to keep on writing. This lead to the creations of several iconic superheroes and superhero team-ups, including but not limited to: The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the Avengers and Iron Man.

We at Fan Fest send our thoughts, prayers and condolences to the Lee family <3 Stan and Joan’s love story is an incredibly inspirational and heart-warming one.
