The Latest ‘Geostorm’ Trailer Shows the Repercussions of ‘Weather Control’

Gerard Butler is one of those people that can take on any role and leave a lasting impression with it. From his time as Gerry in P.S I Love You to King Leonidas in 300 and even Mike Chadway in The Ugly Truth – he’s taken on a multitude of characters and been wildly successful.

For his next role, he’s taking on something unlike he’s experienced up to this point; a system that was designed to help keep the world from a natural disaster that is now aiming to destroy everything in its path. Are we really shocked though? While the idea of being able to control the weather is enticing, there’s no way – even in film – for that to be successful.

The synopsis for the movie is as follows.

After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world’s leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong — the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything… and everyone along with it.

The second trailer for the film was just released and while it may seem a bit outlandish, the truth is, it’s not something that’s totally unheard of. Especially once you find out that the only person who has the kill codes for the system that controls the weather is the president and there seems to be something hidden going on behind the scenes.

The truth is, the film looks like it’s meant to bring a striking awareness to our need for control and how it’s best to just let some things be and to do so in a way that grabs our attention because sometimes we need that ‘just a little over the top’ shock value stuff. You can’t blame us.
