Edgar Wright Says ‘Baby Driver 2’ Isn’t Out of the Question

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver has been a massive success, and for the time and effort he put int the film, it’s all he could have hoped for. Baby Driver is a movie unlike any other and with its 97% on Rotten Tomatoes; it’s leaving a lasting impression with critics too.

When a movie does that well, it’s not hard to imagine that people have curious thoughts about a sequel. With some films, it’s best to avoid a part two at all times, but with a film like Baby Driver – there are opportunities to tell more of a story without devaluing the first one.

Wright believes that there is more to do with the characters in the future.

The studio have asked me to think about writing a sequel. I might do a sequel to it because I think there’s somewhere more to go with it in terms of the characters.’

He goes on to say that in most sequels you have to do something to allow them to go back to square one unless you can go deeper. However, with Baby Driver – there’s more you can do, and you could even go as far as to change how Baby is involved without losing the first movie.

Most sequels you have to contrive something so they go back to square one, unless there’s somewhere deeper for them to go. I think with Baby Driver there’s more that you can do in that realm, and I sort of have an idea that if you did another [film] you would subvert his involvement in the crime in a different way so he’s not the apprentice anymore.

Have you seen Baby Driver and if so, how do you think a sequel to the film would do? Let us know.
