Alexandra Breckenridge and Jon Huertas Promoted to Series Regulars for Season 2 of ‘This Is Us’

Looks like we are going to be seeing a lot more of Sophie and Miguel in season two of the ABC hit series This Is Us. The network announced today that Alexandra Breckenridge (who plays Sophie) and Jon Huertas (who plays Miguel) have been promoted to series regulars on the show’s second season.
Breckenridge plays Sophie who is a friend of Kate’s (played by Chrissy Metz) and we soon discover that she is also Kevin’s (Justin Hartley) ex-wife. Kevin and Sophie rekindled their romance in the first season but, Breckenridge being promoted to a series regular offers some insight into what lies ahead for the couple in the second season. It would appear that Sophie will be sticking around at least a bit longer so, is it possible that Kevin has finally found (or rediscovered) true love?
Huertas’ character isn’t the most liked person on the show but, that’s to no fault of his actual character. Fans of the series were shocked to find out that his character Miguel actually ends up marrying Rebecca Pearson (played by Mandy Moore). The two end up together, somehow, after Jack Pearson’s (Milo Ventimiglia) devastating death. Sterling K. Brown (who plays Randall on the show) has revealed that we will see Jack’s death in season 2 but there’s no official word on whether or not we will see how Miguel’s and Rebecca’s relationship began. Series creator Dan Fogelman has hinted that this information may be revealed in the next season and Huertas’ promotion to series regular seems to confirm that the series will at least begin to explore that storyline.
In addition to Breckenridge and Huertas, the core cast including Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, and Ron Cephas Jones are all returning for the second season.
This Is Us will be returning for its second season on Tuesday, September 26th at 9 pm but, you better start preparing now because it’s sure to be another emotional rollercoaster of a season!
