If you don’t know anything about Negan’s backstory yet, this isn’t the article for you!
Negan entered The Walking Dead whistling, sporting a confident and cocky grin, and wielding a barbed wire coated bat as walked with that infamous lean. He was a force to be reckoned with from the very start and his iron-clad plan for success is only reinforced every day he wakes up and rules what’s left of the world, or at least, their part of it.
He’s ruthless, he’s suave, he’s a total bad ass (even if it is so not cool to kill the characters we love) and he’s even charismatic – he’s Negan.
While we don’t know much about Negan’s backstory yet, it’s clear to anyone that he’s been through some incredibly hard times. Seriously, who would just bash people’s brains in with a bat if they hadn’t experienced something tragic?
What we do know so far is that Negan was married to a woman named Lucille and that he might not have been entirely faithful (and we may be putting that gently). We don’t want to give too much away in case you didn’t heed our warning earlier and are still reading this even if you aren’t sure what happened to Negan pre-apocalypse, but tragedy struck and Lucille passed away. From then on, Negan was changed, and the final piece to his puzzle came when he became the owner of the barbed wire bat he named after his late wife.
SO, why are we rehashing this part of Negan’s story? Well, a Twitter conversation happened just a couple of days ago and it’s got us wanting to start a petition ourselves to ENSURE this happens.
A fan, (@dixonbitchh) asked Negan what his thoughts were on Hilarie Burton playing Lucille and his response was everything we’ve ever needed. Now, unless you’re living under a rock, you know that Hilarie and Jeffrey are the sort of couple we all aim to be, so him suggesting her for the role is just, the best.
Jeffrey isn’t the only one on board with this idea. Hilarie herself got in on it when fans asked what she thought as well. She is just as eager for this to happen as Jeffrey is and we’re wondering how to start that petition, like, right now!
Hilarie also replied to the thread with Jeffrey and laughed about mixing the styles of the show and a good Christmas movie, ya know, bringing both of their genres together.
It goes without saying that both Jeffrey and Hilarie are talented, humble, and totally in touch with their fans – they’re an incredible pair off screen, and we think seeing them together on screen is long overdue.
Would you like to see Hilarie as Lucille? Let us know.
