‘Game of Thrones’ Gets An Extended 81 Minute Finale For Season 7
It’s the beginning of Summer but in Westeros, Winter is here and the battle to become the ruler of the Seven Kingdoms is fast approaching.
It was recently announced from the Watchers on the Wall that the final 2 episodes of the upcoming seventh season of HBO’s Game of Thrones will have record-length running times. Episode 6 will be 71 minutes and the season 7 finale will be 81 minutes.
The following are running times for each episode:
Episode 1: 59 minutes
Episode 2: 59 minutes
Episode 3: 63 minutes
Episode 4: 50 minutes
Episode 5: 59 minutes
Episode 6: 71 minutes
Episode 7: 81 minutes
The average episode ranges between approximately 54 to 56 minutes long. For 10 episodes per season, that would come to 540 to 560 minutes. Season 7 totals 442 minutes for 7 episodes. A difference of 98 minutes which would be the equivalent of 2 episodes of a regular season. So, we can come to the conclusion that there is really 8 episodes worth of fighting for the Iron Throne.
