BBC Get Rights To Broadcast Ryan Murphy’s ‘Feud: Bette and Joan’ In UK
Ryan Murphy, the creative head behind American Horror Story, is set to dominate British television once again – this time with the standalone drama, Feud: Bette and Joan.
Television broadcaster The BBC have received rights to the eight-part series that draws attention to the widely publicised rivalry between Hollywood starlets, Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
Known for her work in AHS, Jessica Lange re-teams up with Murphy to portray Joan Crawford and Susan Sarandon takes on the role of Bette Davis. Feud also stars: Catherine Zeta Jones, Kathy Bates and Stanley Tucci.
The show, which featured on FX in the U.S, will air on BBC Two later in the year – with a date yet to be confirmed. It appears that the network can’t get enough of Murphy’s work following the success of bringing his other side-project, The People v O.J Simpson: American Crime Story to the UK last year.

In a statement on Wednesday, Patrick Holland, controller of BBC Two said: “Drama on BBC Two has to stand out for its authorship, unique vision and exceptional craft, so I am delighted that Ryan Murphy’s brilliantly realized series Feud: Bette and Joan is coming to the channel.”
“It features some wonderful performances, a flawless recreation of period and a delicious unravelling of a personal drama that had a massive impact on modern cinema. Feud is a real treat.”
David Smyth, senior VP and managing director at Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution further said: “BBC Two is the perfect home for our next series from creator Ryan Murphy, whose The People v. O.J Simpson: American Crime Story just won the BAFTA after airing last year on BBC Two.”
Due to Feuds‘ success, Murphy is working on a second series focusing on Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
The second series is set to premiere in 2018.
