The Weeknd Makes Charitable Donation to Health Center in Uganda

The Weekend often makes headlines for his incredible songs, killer performances, and for his budding romance with Selena Gomez, and let’s be honest, they’re a couple that we absolutely adore. He’s got a good thing going, in all aspects of his life, and when people get good things they often hope to share them with others.

E! Reported first that The Weeknd made a large donation to a health center in Uganda after learning of the organization’s need for help, as well as work done by a friend of his, French Montana.

French Montana worked with Global Citizen and Mama Hope to raise money and awareness for the center. In addition to the work done and awareness raised, French also donated $100,000 to Suubi and thanks to an online campaign titled #Unforgettable, was able to fund a blood bank and premature incubators as well as cribs and other necessary supplies.

Inspired by all of that, The Weeknd made a $100,000 donation to the Suubi Health Center as well and his donation helped the center with its outreach and the ability to have a completed area to serve patients. Just how much did it help, you may wonder?

Well, now construction is complete on the first floor of the maternity clinic and its capacity has been increased. Instead of serving 56,000 people, the center can now serve 260,000 people.
