Olivia Newton-John Postpones Tour as she Battles Cancer for the Second Time

Olivia Newton-John is an icon in the entertainment industry. From her starring role as Sandy in Grease to multiple multi-platinum singles; she’s got a voice that resounds with a generation and her talent transcends. She’s made a mark and it’s not just because of how incredibly talented she is; it’s because of her persona as a whole, she’s made up of all of the qualities that truly make a person great.

In addition to all that makes her so incredibly talented, she’s got a heart of gold. Olivia is an activist and an extremely charitable person as well. She advocates for health issues, she’s been a spokesperson for animal rights and for the Colette Chuda Environmental Fund/CHEC as well as for many other organizations. She also raised funds to create a cancer and wellness center in Australia. After her battle with breast cancer, and the close family members who battled cancer as well, she wanted to help as many people with the disease as possible.

Olivia was set to begin a tour in June for the album Liv-On which debuted in 2016 but earlier in May, she postponed the dates due to sciatica. It was revealed yesterday that those dates would be further postponed due to a cancer recurrence.

A statement was made earlier for immediate release that explains Olivia’s state of health, what she plans to do next, and that she aims to return to the stage this year.

‘Olivia Newton-John is reluctantly postponing her June U.S. and Canadian concert tour dates. The back pain that initially caused her to postpone the first half of her concert tour, has turned out to be breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum.

In addition to natural wellness therapies, Olivia will complete a short course of photon radiation therapy and is confident she will be back later in the year, better than ever, to celebrate her shows.

“I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia,” says Olivia Newton-John.

There will be no interview requests accepted at this time as Olivia’s focus is on her treatment and healing. Ticket buyers for the upcoming concerts should contact venues directly about refunds. Rescheduled concert dates will be posted at OliviaNewton-John.com in the coming weeks.’

She’s no stranger to the strength and determination that it takes to fight the disease, and we’re sure that she’ll handle this battle and win just like she did years ago with her first cancer battle. We’re sending all of our best wishes to Olivia and her family at this time.
