Could This Mysterious ‘Avengers’ Hatch Mean More Marvel Magic for DisneyLand?
Disneyland’s new Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout officially opened to the public this past weekend making the ride the first Marvel attraction in the theme park. While the ride is certainly getting a big reaction from fans and guests, there’s another detail outside of the ride which is also causing a pretty big buzz around the park.
It seems there’s a mysterious hatch that has appeared outside of the ride. The hatch is branded with the signature Avengers “A” which is leading fans to speculate that more Marvel attractions may soon be on the way. However, there may be more to this whole situation than just fan speculation. As Hellogiggles points out, the idea of. “MarvelLand” of sorts coming to Disney has been rumored for years with the most recent tease coming from the chairman of Disney Parks, Bob Chapek during a panel at the grand opening of the Guardians ride. Chapek said:
“This is just the beginning of what will become an even bigger superhero presence at Disney California Adventure. With the strong partnership between Marvel and Walt Disney Imagineering, we’re very excited about what is to come. And it’s sure to please Marvel fans hungry for more magic at Disney Parks.”
Video of the mysterious hatch was posted to twitter by the Vice President and Executive Editor of Marvel Digital Media, Ryan Penagos. Check it out:

In a later tweet, Penagos points out that Marvel Themed Entertainment Creative Director Brian Crosby is actually the one who pointed out the hatch to him.

SlashFilm points out that Crosby also appeared at a panel during the Guardians ride premiere event and made a statement regarding nods throughout the attraction:
“There are nods in this attraction to other things we are doing around the world. In true Marvel fashion, hashtag it’s all connected, there are nods to the Iron Man Experience in Hong Kong, there are nods to the Marvel Superhero Academy on the Disney Cruise Ship. It’s all connected guys. So we encourage you to be good fans and go on the interwebs and find all the clues and connect it all. That’s the fun, it’s all part of the same universe. And we’re just getting started.”
So, is this mysterious Avengers hatch just a nod to another Marvel franchise or, does it signify more to come to the ever changing Disneyland landscape? Or maybe it’s Disneyland’s own version of the Dharma Initiative? What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
