‘Arrow’: Katie Cassidy Gives us the Details on her Transition to Black Siren

When Katie Cassidy left Arrow and Black Canary last year, many fans were surprised when they announced she would return this year as Black Siren. Pleasantly of course! What better surprise is there?!

Katie sat down in front of fans at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest this weekend in London, and explained how it all happened, and actually ironed out a lot of questions fans had about the transition, and who Black Siren is on Earth 2.

“I had no idea what was going to happen. I’ve been very transparent about the whole thing. I didn’t want to leave but from the producing standpoint and the ratings standpoint it made sense. The decision to bring me back? I had a conversation with Mark Guggenheim the day I shot my death scene. After I wrapped, he had said,  “Would you consider coming and playing with us in the future?” And I said yeah absolutely! I’ve believed in the show since day one. And one thing led to another and the rest is history.”

Her costar Josh Segarra, who is Adrian Chase on the show had some nice things to say about Katie, who the cast affectionately calls “KC”.

“KC is a boss. The impact she left was amazing. They always said hey missed her. And when I met her she did not disappoint.” He raved to the fans.

She also added, “We’re a team and we’re a family. That’s what so beautiful about our jobs and what we get to do. We get to form these life-long friendships with people.”

Emily Bett Rickards was also on the panel and had her own questions for Katie. Asking if she still has Sara Lance as a sister when she comes over from the other universe.

“She does.” Katie said. “On Earth 2, all you guys play a role and look the same in the flesh, but are different internally. My father and same with Black Siren’s father. That’s definitely an interesting dynamic that I think we’ll explore. For example Paul Blackthorne, Our dynamic is completely different now and it actually confuses us because we’re so used to playing a father-daughter relationship and it throws him. I think she’s very very mysterious and I think there’s going to be a lot to explore.”
