WATCH: John Williams Gets an A Cappella Serenade at Harvard University’s 2017 Commencement

Now is the time when college kids all across the country are gearing up for their graduation ceremonies and are preparing for the next journey in their lives.  Graduation is a momentous occasion and, for the Harvard University graduating class of 2017, it’s sure to be one they won’t soon forget.

In addition to having Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as the guest speaker for their commencement ceremony, the college honored the musical works of John Williams and presented the legendary composer with an honorary doctorate degree in, of course, music.  In order to make the moment even more special, the Harvard student a cappella group Din and Tonics was on hand to perform a musical montage of some of Williams’ most famous compositions.

The Din and Tonics gave and energetic and enthusiastic pitch perfect performance. As you can imaging, these guys must have been FREAKING out over having the opportunity to do this once in a lifetime performance.  The medley sampled all of Williams’ most famous works including the themes from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Harry Potter, Jaws and Superman.

Williams’ reaction to the performance was priceless.  The man of the hour was soaking it all in with a constant, beaming smile on his face.  At the conclusion of the performance, the Din and Tonics received a thunderous applause but promptly turned the focus over to Williams as they pointed in his direction.  Williams, clearly enjoying the moment and seemingly truly honored by the performance, gave the Din and Tonics a standing ovation.
