For Jason Bateman, life at a resort isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. In fact, for the character he plays in Netflix’s series, Ozark, it’s not a vacation at all; it’s a last resort.
Jason Bateman stars alongside Laura Linney as a financial planner named Marty who has a second gig as a money-launderer for an incredibly powerful drug lord. Something bad happens and Suddenly, Marty and his family are on the run. In the teaser, he asks ‘Hypothetically, on a scale of 1 – 10 how difficult would it be for someone to disappear…a family of four?’
The answer, as we come to see in the teaser, isn’t a clear one at all. His family does make it out of their hometown of Chicago to the Lake of the Ozark, but things aren’t working out smoothly at all. In fact, it looks like things are impossible.

The town they move to doesn’t provide an escape at all. Instead, it looks to harbor more harm. The town ‘is death’ and there’s no sanctuary anywhere, and his family looks to be losing it too which will undeniably lead to some hard feelings and resentment for their father having to sneak them away into hiding anyway.
At one point, Marty is even seen with a gun to his head. This Netflix original looks to have it all, and while Ozark may not be an ideal place for Marty and his family, it’s going to capture our attention and keep us coming back for more. Ozark will be available in July of this year.
