Ed Sheeran is ‘rejuvenated’ and more ready than ever to Tour

When 2015 drew to a close, Ed Sheeran shut down his social media accounts, disconnected from the world (he didn’t even have a phone) and spent time traveling and enjoying the little moments. While Ed’s career has been enjoyable and exciting, he deserved some time off to reenergize and slow down and enjoy the little things in life.

I traveled to places that I’d been to on tour but never really got a chance to see, like Japan, as well as places that I’d never been but always wanted to, like Ghana. It was incredible. I felt totally refreshed and rejuvenated.

Not only was that hiatus good for Ed, it was great for his fans. They’ll be seeing a new side of him, or as Ed says, a more driven side. He also says that the break was good for his fans so that they could take a break from him, however, we don’t know that we actually needed one. Ed’s music is inviting, it’s catchy, it’s full of emotion, and it’s fun. He’s an artist and we’re so glad he came back and that he’s more excited than ever to be in the game.

I came back even more driven than the last album, which I pretty much went straight into from my first without any break, and I also think it was good for my fans. They needed a break from me and I think going away made them even more excited when I did finally come back with new music.

He also gave EW a bit of a sneak peek into what to expect from his tour, which he’s already started in Europe and says while it’s bigger and better this time around – it’s still just him and his guitar.

Production is definitely bigger this time around. I’d like to think that it’s sounding better too. I have a new loop station that can handle a bit more. But ultimately, it’s still just me, my guitar, and the looper. I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

He also says that he’s excited to tour the US. He’s going to be in the states all summer and even during some of the fall season, and he’s excited to explore the cities he’s traveling through and pick up their vibes.

‘I’m literally going to be there all summer, even into fall, really,” he says. “It’s hard to put my finger on what exactly it is, but every country has its own vibe. Not any better or worse, just different. And, even within the U.S., each city has its own vibe. I have friends in New York and L.A., so those shows always feel a bit closer to ‘home shows’ I imagine.’

Will you be seeing Ed this tour? We will and we’re so excited!
