Tom Hardy to Star in ‘Venom’

Director Ruben Fleischer is webbed into the final negotiating stages, who is known for his directing work on Zombieland, while Tom Hardy (The Revenant) will star.

This film, based on one of the Marvel Spiderman franchise’s villains will be the one more of several that Sony plans to bring to life in this genre. That includes the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming flick along with a Silver Sable and Black Cat film.
Venom was introduced in 1988, and has remained arguably Spidey’s (and Marvel’s) most popular and worst villain. Think, Alien. He needs to be hosted inside a human in order to survive. Lucky for you if you are the host human, you get super villain powers as well!
He appeared in Spider-Man 3 for the first time on the big screen-played by Topher Grace.
The script has been written by two gentlemen who also worked on The Amazing Spider-Man 2-Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner.
Hardy, now switching from DC as Bane in Dark Knight Rises, to this Marvel villain, will play Eddie Brock, the first ever victim to become and host Venom.
He has also starred in Legend and Mad Max: Fury Road.
Producers include Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal.
The film is set to hit theaters on October 5th, 2018.
