13 Reasons Why is a series that speaks on some topics that are hard to fathom happening, but the truth is, they are happening – and more often than you think. When the series premiered, fans may not have been anticipating the raw emotion and the depth of the scenes they’d see played out in front of them, but it’s all been done for a reason.
Sometimes, the hard situations are the ones we need to talk about the most, even if they seem impossible. This show is opening doors for those conversations to begin. From friends and family to schools and churches – people are discussing these issues, and even if some of them think it’s too real, it’s grabbing attention.
The cast and crew have seen those who are against the series, but they’ve also seen so much support from those who think it’s necessary. They decided to take some time out of their lives to put together 13 reasons that their fans mean so much to them.
‘Because you’re talking openly about the important things depicted in this show. You’re talking to your parents, your friends, your teachers, and that’s really important.’
‘You pay attention to detail, and you come up with some pretty hilarious fan theories.‘
‘You didn’t get mad at Clay for not listening to the tapes faster, or not too mad anyway.‘
‘You like me, you really like me.‘
‘You support me, even though I play a really bad guy on the show.’
‘You guys fell for my American accent.‘
‘You guys got the Sid and Nancy reference.‘
‘You guys make awesome fan art.‘
‘You’re honest and willing to be vulnerable.’
‘You believe that everyone deserves a second chance.’
‘You believe in our story.‘
‘You stand up against bullying, sexual violence, and discrimination.’
‘You guys take care of each other and support each other, even though you’re all strangers. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.‘
The cast added one additional reason, too.
‘We wouldn’t be here without you so thank you so much.’

The video was posted on Twitter and has received a lot of response from fans thanking the cast for taking the time to do something so special.
13 Reasons Why was recently renewed for a second season and we’re looking forward to seeing what they do next for the characters who were so broken in so many ways. If you’ve yet to see the series, go into it with the knowledge that the warnings are there for a reason, but if you’re a young adult, a parent, or anyone at all really – you’d probably benefit from watching it.
