When This Is Us comes back for its second season, the family hit will no longer hold it’s Tuesday evening spot. Instead, the series will move to the most competitive and lucrative time slot in TV (says Entertainment Weekly) – Thursdays at 9 p.m. Not only is the series moving to THE television slot, it’s also been given the post-Super Bowl spot in 2018 and the network is seriously considering a special Christmas Episode to get us through the hiatus. We can’t say we’d be disappointed, in fact, we will say we want that Christmas special more than we want a lot of things.  the critical and

The series is already emotional, why not throw in an episode focused around the most wonderful time of the year?

NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt told reporters that they went back and forth about moving This Is Us.

We went back and forth about moving This Is Us to Thursday. There’s a case to be made for keeping the show where it was. While it’s a little risky, there’s a bigger case to be made about redoing Thursday night.

Part of the reason This Is Us is moving to Thursdays is obviously it’s wildly successful breakout season, but also due to that whole ‘redoing Thursday night’ notion that NBC is putting into order. They went on to discuss that idea in a bit more detail.

Our hope is to create the return of Must See TV on Thursday. It’s not like we’re bringing back the entire old Must See TV lineup. We’re using the label to refer to some extraordinary new things and Will & Grace. I‘m not saying it’s going to be 100-foot letters on the Empire State Building, but, yes, we’re going to use it.

They even gave the lineup that they plan on using.

NBC will open the night with the reboot of Will & Grace. Next will have the second season of recently launched Great News, with executive producer Tina Fey taking an on-camera role. This Is Us will air at 9 p.m. and to wrap it up, at 10 p.m  Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders miniseries will air starring Edie Falco.

In all honesty, as long as the series comes back, it wouldn’t matter what night it was on; fans of the series are so dedicated to it that they’d make time to watch it always. It’s singlehandedly the most family oriented, beautifully told, and love inspiring story on television right now – and maybe ever.
