Fans everywhere have connected with the cast and characters on the NBC hit series This Is Us like no other series out there today. If you’ve watched season 1 of the series, chances are you’ve seen a bit of yourself in one or more of the characters and you are able to relate to several of the situations and plot lines those characters face. It seems everyone has a story that relates to something on this show which is why the series has resonated so strongly with audiences around the world.
On Monday, NBC released the first teaser, if you can call it that. We’d call it a tear-er because you are going to definitely need some tissues while watching this. In the emotionally-charged 4 minute video, fans of the show share personal stories and experiences from their lives and tell how those experiences have connected them to a character on the show.
Little do they know, the whole time they are being interviewed about their lives, some very important people are watching them tell their stories. This Is Us stars Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz and Sterling K. Brown are all on hand, watching the interviews before giving these fans the surprise of their lives. It’s amazing to see the shock and excitement on the fans’ faces when, while they are telling their stories of inspiration, heartbreak and empathy, and suddenly, the actors pop out of nowhere.
This isn’t the first time the cast has surprised unsuspecting fans. Earlier this year, Milo Ventimiglia posted a video to his social media showing the cast, in the middle of filming and finding a family watching their show, while they were outside filming. Ventimiglia couldn’t help himself. He had to go knock on their door and surprise the family.
This teaser shows the emotional impact of the show and, in a voice over during the clip, Sterling K. Brown can be heard saying, “We are as moved and inspired by our fans as they seem to be by our show.” That sentiment certainly shows in this video.
