In Loving Memory: A Tribute to Those We Have Lost This Week

We here at Fan Fest News would like to pay tribute to those in the entertainment world that we have lost this past week. Some may be well-known, some may be unknown but all have left their mark. Let’s take a minute to celebrate the lives they lived and honor the memories and legacies that they leave behind.

 

MOVIES:

Michael Parks, passed away on May 10 at the age of 77. His death ws announced by Kevin Smith via his Instgram account.

Parks had several roles in television shows in the ’60s and ’70s. Other noteable role were in films such as From Dusk Till Dawn, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2, Grindhouse, Django Unchained, and Argo.

Michael Parks is survived by his wife, Oriana and son, James.

 

 

 

Powers Boothe passed away in his sleep on May 14, 2017 at the age of 68. Television and film actor best know for his role as Jim Jones in Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones and “Curly Bill” Brocious in Tombstone.

Other film in which he appeared include The Emerald Forest, Red Dawn, Blue Sky, Sudden Death, Nixon, Sin City, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and U Turn.

In the Marvel Universe, he appeared in The Avengers and later reprised the same role in ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Boothe married his college sweetheart Pam in 1969 and the couple had 2 children, Parisse and Preston.

He is survived by all three of them.

 

TELEVISION:

Christopher “Big Black” Boykin passed away on May 9, 2017 at the age of 45. A musician who is best known for his appearance in MTV’s reality show Rob and Big. He starred in the series as best friend and bodyguard for skateboarder Rob Dyrdek. It ran for 2 years.

Before becoming Dyrdek’s bodyguard, Boykin served in the U.S. Navy and also began a clothing line in 2007.

He is survived by his 9-year-old daughter, Isis and friends.
