Powers Boothe Dead at 68
Some very sad to report tonight: Actor Powers Boothe has passed away at the age of 68.
His publicist Karen Samfilippo confirmed his passing to Entertainment Weekly, after the news broke online from longtime friend and fellow actor Beau Bridges. Bridges tweeted, “It is with great sadness that I mourn the passing of my friend Powers Boothe. A dear friend, great actor, devoted father & husband.” Boothe died in his sleep due to apparent natural causes.
Boothe’s breakthrough came in 1980, when he played cult leader Jim Jones in the CBS docudrama Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones, for which he won an Emmy. His other notable work includes Tombstone, Sin City, 24, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
We at FanFest send our deepest condolences to Mr. Boothe’s family and friends. He will be missed.
