‘Arrow’: Season 6 will explore conflicts of being Mayor Queen and The Green Arrow

One thing that we learned from this weeks episode on Arrow is that no matter how much Adrian Chase can try to turn the city against The Green Arrow; Oliver will not give up on carrying that legacy and image. (Well, not completely at least).

In recent interview with comicbook.com, EP Wendy Mericle confirmed that Oliver will still be serving in the halls of City Hall next season.

The question is, how will he be able to explain the missed meetings, injuries or excessive exhaustion??

“The mayor’s office has gotten really good at covering up all that stuff, but it’s a good question,” Mericle said. “I think we’ll be able to find story ways to skirt past that, but it highlights what’s going to be a central question for season 6, which is, how can he do both? We’ve played with that in the past in different ways before, but I think that the success of what he’s done in the mayor’s office and his ability to have impact is going to raise those stakes to a different level and hopefully create some great stories.”

I’m not gonna lie, I’m throwing my hands up in the air in celebration at the fact that Oliver will still be in office come next season. I think taking on the role of Green Arrow in addition to being Mayor balances out Oliver’s life and keeps his mind busy. Sometimes, we do need a second ‘hobby’ or job to keep out minds occupied, after all.

Arrow airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
