‘Wonder Woman’ Tracking for an Anticipated $65M Box-Office Debut
Projections for the upcoming release of Warner Bros. and DC’s highly-anticipated next film Wonder Woman were released today with the film expected to track in an estimated $65 million in its North American Debut. This would put the film on par with other films like Thor and Captain America. In 2011, Captain America: First Avenger reached the $65 million mark and Thor just surpassed it with a $65.7 million showing.
With Wonder Woman currently projected to hit the $65 million mark, the film is expected to come in higher on its first weekend than Marvel’s Ant-Man (which his $57.2 million) and DC’s Green Lantern (which hit $53.1 million), and Batman Begins (which hit $48.7 million).
The Wonder Woman film is uncharted territories, however since it will be the first first female-led superhero movie from a major Hollywood studio since Elektra. Those with access to tracking say interest is strong across all different demographics with the strongest showing among males who are 25 and older, followed by females 25 and older, which is good news for the studio.
