Harry Styles Kicks off Citi Summer Concert Series

If you woke up with The Today Show this morning, you woke up to a musical performance from Harry Styles. Harry helped kick off the Citi Summer Concert Series with three songs from his new album that drops this Friday. The self-titled number has 10 songs and fans can’t wait to get their hands on it. Harry says this album is one he wrote with intentions of being real, without editing himself, and it’s music he likes to listen to himself.

Harry is uber talented but he’s also incredibly kind, both of which the hosts of The Today Show mentioned in a segment after his performances.

The performance started with Harry singing his tune ‘Ever Since New York’ which he debuted while he was a guest on Saturday Night Live just weeks ago. The song was immediately a fan favorite, so hearing him perform it again was a delight. The high notes in the song are great and the lyrics are wonderful too. Harry leaves his music open to interpretation but it’s clearly a song about missing someone, maybe someone you shouldn’t be missing at all.

‘Brooklyn saw me, empty avenues
There’s no water inside this swimming pool
Almost over, that’s enough from you
I’ve been praying, I never did before
Understand I’m talking to the walls
And I’ve been praying ever since New York’

He went on to sing a new song from his album called ‘Carolina’ which was a banger. It’s more upbeat than the other songs we’ve heard from Harry so far; it’s just got a different sound to it. We have a feeling that’ll be one people play in the car; it feels like a road trip song.

Harry finished his set with ‘Sign of the Times’ – his debut solo single that went directly to number 1. That song meant a lot to him it’s one of the ones he worked hardest on – the lyrics are deep and meaningful, fitting for what a lot of the world seems to be going through right now. In addition to the song being incredible, Harry released the video for it yesterday, and the video is stunning. If you haven’t taken a look at it yet, we recommend it.

‘Just stop your crying
It’s a sign of the times
Welcome to the final show
Hope you’re wearing your best clothes

You can’t bribe the door on your way to the sky
You look pretty good down here
But you ain’t really good’

Whether you’ve been a fan of Harry for years, or just found yourself getting interested in his music – you can’t deny his talent. We can’t wait to hear the rest of his album this weekend, it’s one of the collections of songs we’re looking most forward to hearing this year.
