Khary Payton Shares a Photo from The Walking Dead Set

The cast and crew of The Walking Dead are just as anxious as we are to get the show back on the road. Filming for the series has resumed and with season 7 ending in the midst of an all-out war, season 8 is going to come back strong.

While we don’t get many shots from the cast on set unless they come from their dressing rooms or show nothing at all around them, Khary Payton took to his Twitter account today and shared a photo of himself – well, sort of. The photo came alongside a quote.

‘& we start once more for the fallen’

Seeing King Ezekiel, his army, and of course, Shiva absolutely killing it (no pun intended) as they joined Rick’s group during the battle was incredible. For a few moments, we were really worried about what was going to happen. However, as the season progressed – you saw the reasons for both the hesitation and the fire for each group, and it’s members, to go to battle.

King Ezekiel wanted to rule without having to kill, he wanted peace before further disturbance, he wanted to find a way to stay human in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Some of his group felt the same way, others were ready to go after Negan and his men for all the death and pain they’d caused.

However, King Ezekiel also saw death around him, and he knew that it was only going to get worse. Negan’s men aren’t stopping, their sense of entitlement was only growing stronger, and they were out for blood. There wasn’t time to wait to see what would come next or to try to work things out. It was time to battle.

Perhaps that’s what Khary’s quote means, they’re rising again for the fallen. In that rising, they hold with them the spirits of their loved ones – and with so much to motivate them, they’ll stop at nothing to win. Not for glory, not for the satisfaction – but because they’ve lost too much already.

Season 8 returns this October, keep up with us for more until then.
