Seth Rogen and The Lonely Island Tease Music Festival Disaster Comedy During ‘Fyre Festival’ Fiasco

For a select group of concert-goers, this past weekend was supposed to be a dream trip spent in paradise.  Rapper Ja Rule and entrepreneur Billy McFarland were hosting a destination music and art festival called Fyre Festival which was to take place on a private island in the Bahamas.  The festival was set to feature performances by Blink 182 as well as from others and was marketed to be one of the most lavish and upscale festivals of them all.  Over two weekends, April 27 to 28 and May 5 through 7, Fyre Festival promised an unparalleled concert-going experience with ticket prices for the event ranging from $4,000 to $250,000 but, what fans actually got was something completely unexpected.

You may have noticed Fyre Festival was trending on social media recently.  Concert-goers weren’t posting about the awesome musical sets from their favorite bands or the swanky, tropical view of the ocean.  The festival wasn’t quite ready to actually execute the event which caused condition to be less than sub-par and definitely not what was advertised to ticket purchases.  There was a shortage of food, incomplete lodging areas (which basically became a flimsy tent city pitched on the sand), reports of rats overrunning certain parts of the location and ultimately, once the festival was officially cancelled, a shortage of flights allowing goers to get off the hellish island.

While the event pretty much turned into an episode of Survivor, Seth Rogen and comedy trio The Lonely Island either couldn’t resist the urge to poke fun at the massive event failure or, they seriously have a new project on their hands.  When the first hand accounts from Fyre Festival started coming through on social media, Rogen sent out a tweet announcing a project he’s been working on involving a music festival gone wrong.  Check it out:

Admittedly, this totally sounds like the perfect film for the Sausage Party actor. You can kind of already picture Rogen in the starring role, right?  To add some more fuel to the Fyre, The Lonely Island (a comedy trio consisting of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone) responded as well.  Now, this seems like a totally legit project:

We are extremely glad that Fyre Festival is taking good care of everyone who was meant to participate in this past weekend’s festivities.  Concert-goers will be receiving a full refund and the festival did release an official statement (which you can read HERE) but, we can’t help but be excited for this possible new project from Rogen and The Lonely Island.

What are your thoughts?  Do you know anyone who attempted to attend Fyre Festival this weekend?  Sound off in the comment section below!
