Carmen Sandiego is Coming to Netflix

Netflix has revealed their next television endeavor: Carmen Sandiego.

Based off of an educational game, the series follows Carmen Sandiego as she travels the world as a super thief. The animated series will have twenty 22 minute episodes and is scheduled to drop in 2019.

Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) will voice Carmen while Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) will voice Player, Carmen’s friend and accomplice. Netflix has stated that the series will show how Carmen came to be a notorious thief and will finally answer the question of who she really is.

Showrunner for Carmen Sandiego will be Duane Capizzi (The Batman). CJ Kettler (The Tick) will act as executive producer. Caroline Fraser will be the executive in charge of production. Kevin Dart (Dr. Peabody & Sherman) will handle visual design for the show. And Houghton Mifflin Harcourt will act as a producer for Netflix.

I remember playing these games as a child and I am incredibly excited for what Netflix will do. Rodriguez showed her enthusiasm for the role by tweeting that she already has her red coat and fedora ready.

Is it 2019 yet?
