NEW FOOTAGE: Alien: Covenant Crew Film Home Messages Before Gruesome Attack

The anticipated release of Alien: Covenant is just round the corner, but following the many teasers and promo images it is clear that the Covenant crew are in for one bloody adventure.

Ridley Scott’s upcoming installment in his Alien franchise acts as the sequel to 2012’s Prometheus and the prequel to the classic 1979, Alien. However, before we see the horror unfold, two members of the crew – Daniels (Katherine Waterston) and Oram (Billy Crudup) – filmed video messages via a GoPro to their families back on Earth.

Two found footages titled as ‘Crew Messages’ were released earlier today by 20th Century Fox and they show the final act of communication that Waterston and Crudup’s characters have with their families before entering ‘paradise.’

Daniels’ video, a personal transmission to her father, is a combination of flashbacks between a monologue detailing plans about “reshaping an entire planet” and ultra-scary footage of the crew’s actual experience on the remote planet – which looks anything but a paradise world.

The official synopsis reads:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his ground breaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Alien: Covenant hits cinemas May 12 (UK) and May 19 (US).
