Gal Gadot Channeled Beyonce while Auditioning for Wonder Woman

Gal Gadot sat down with W Magazine for an interview and a glimpse into what went into being cast in the coveted role of Wonder Woman and what it took to become her. For Gal, it wasn’t hard. W Magazine says she’s a lot like Wonder Woman herself; beautiful, kind, and strong.

It sounds strange, but Gal is so clean – so pure – but it’s not for lack of wisdom or information. Like Wonder Woman, she is beautiful, kind, and strong. It’s a choice to stay so spiritually clean, Gal instinctively understands that choice.

Gadot says growing up in Israel, Wonder Woman wasn’t a household name and that acting wasn’t her dream as a child. She was studying and felt like acting wasn’t her calling, at all. She was eventually persuaded and her first role was in the Fast and Furious franchise. She has already donned the Wonder Woman persona in Batman vs Superman but at first – she wasn’t aware that she was going out for that role.

In terms of her camera test, and then the excruciating waiting that followed, Gadot had this to say.

That was torture. They were looking at six or seven girls, and we were all in separate trailers and were told to stay inside until they called us.’

So what did Gadot do? She called on the one and only Queen Bey.

Who runs the world? Girls,’ Gadot said, directly referencing Beyoncé’s ‘Run the World.’ ‘I just started to dance, and I let my anxiety go. Thank you, Beyoncé!’

She also had some remarks for those who criticized her body when she was cast as Wonder Woman, shutting down shamers and those who felt like she was missing something ‘critical’ to play the part. She laughed and said that the internet had a lot to say about her small chest because, apparently, that’s one of Wonder Woman’s most important features. (yeah…right)

Gadot then went on to say that playing Wonder Woman was important to her because of what it meant to young adults.

It is so important for girls and boys to have a female, strong, superhero to look up to. The more the merrier and there is plenty of room for many more women to come and I am very happy to be a part of it.
