COLONY: Highlights from episode 212 “Seppuku”

The penultimate episode of Colony season 2 gives us intrigue, double-crossing, and fear for one our most beloved characters.

We first get a flashback of Broussard struggling with the fallout of a maneuver gone wrong in the Middle East.

We then shift back to current time where Noa, our visitor from outside the wall, insists that the bunker gang recover the RAP gauntlet. They need to meet with the Red Hand but have no communications with them. Katie employs Bram’s assistance in setting up a meet with Red Hand leader Karen.

As most would predict, Karen refuses to give up the gauntlet. Broussard calls Karen “a plague” and convinces the others that she must be stopped. The Red Hand organization is indeed a tough nut to crack, but Morgan’s drone finds them in a theater. Noa explains that her original group has a RAP defector who paired with the gauntlet will be a great asset in the war against the hosts.   The bunker gang prepares for attack.

Meanwhile, Proxy Alcala warns Nolan that he must be rid of Maddie. Nolan convinces Maddie to send Hudson to an elite camp for his safety. Maddie is heartbroken. With Hudson supposedly safely tucked away, Nolan turns Maddie over to the Authority after one last rendezvous. Maddie is taken into custody.

Former Proxy Alan Snyder and Governor General Helena discuss their Alcala problem. How can they get rid of him? Snyder elicits Maddie’s help in uncovering unsavory information about Nolan in exchange for Hudson’s safety and her release.

Snyder makes a surprise visit to Nolan and holds Nolan’s secrets to the fire long enough to get dirt on Alcala. Snyder proceeds with this plan and fools Nolan into thinking that his blackmail effort is really a way to ensure himself a spot behind the scenes in a Nolan-centric regime. Oh, Nolan, ye of too MUCH faith!

Nolan is taken into custody while Maddie is released long enough to pack a single bag and exit the Green Zone. Where will she go?

The bunker gang executes their plan of attack against the Red Hand. Noa becomes a casualty when the ladies open fire against Karen. Not only do Morgan and Katie lose a comrade, Noa was also the only one who knew how to find her original group and the RAP defector.

Meanwhile, Will and Broussard are trying to safely exit the facility. Red Hand soldiers are upon them and Broussard insists that he hold them off himself so Will can get away because Will has a family to care for.

Broussard is trapped on the rooftop of the theater. He calls the drones using the tracking device that BB had extracted from the gauntlet and the Red Hand soldiers are swiftly annihilated. Broussard comes face to face with a drone and we fear he is a goner.

Will, Katie, and Morgan make it safely back to the bunker. Morgan cannot bear to think that Broussard did not make it. Someone is heard entering the bunker. It is Broussard! But he is visibly shaken. He explains that the drone was right in his face but did not strike, much like what Will experienced going over the wall in Santa Monica. Katie suggests that perhaps Broussard is also on the same dossier file as Will.

Finally, Helena uses the intel from Nolan to fire Alcala for falsifying reports. Snyder and Helena share a victory moment while they watch the latest launch to the Factory where Nolan is apparently on board. But Helena cannot relax for long as she is interrupted by a call from the VGA telling her that Los Angeles is facing “total rendition”.

This leads us right up to the must-see season 2 finale of Colony airing Thursday, April 6 on USA Network.
