‘The Flash’ Recap ‘Abra Kadabra’

The Flash Recap ‘Abra Kadabra’

A new threat has come to Central City and he goes by the name of Abra Kadabra. He seems to be a magician, but when Gypsy appears to collect his bounty, Team Flash learns that he is from the future and is just using technology in a way that looks like magic. He is an incredibly hard guy to catch. Kadabra is targeting research labs across the city, and when Barry, Wally, Cisco, and Gypsy all go to where they think he is, it was just a set-up. He wanted them out of the way so he could infiltrate S.T.A.R. Labs. Joe, Julian, and Caitlin keep him at bay long enough for Barry to appear and place him in handcuffs.

Knowing that he is about to be taken away by Gypsy, Kadabra bargains with Barry. He will tell him who Savitar really is if they let him go free. Barry and Iris talk it over, but Joe decides to act. He releases Kadabra and is about to get the information from him when Gypsy interferes. Kadabra escapes, but not before stealing from S.T.A.R. Labs and severely wounding Caitlin.

Julian operates on Caitlin to remove all the pieces of shrapnel. He doesn’t think he can do it, so Caitlin remains awake during the surgery to guide him through it. The others suggested removing the amulet and letting her powers regenerate her body, but she refuses. She trusts Julian and knows he can do it. The surgery is successful and Caitlin is saved. She and Julian share a nice moment later on when she regains consciousness.

Team Flash learns that Kadabra has been stealing technology to build himself a time machine. Barry, Wally, Cisco, and Gypsy chase the time ship throughout all of Central City, trying to stop him from getting to the wormhole. It was pretty awesome to see the four of them working together. I hope that Cisco becomes a permanent member of the field team now that he’s getting more in touch with his powers. They can do some really cool things. Barry manages to extract Kadabra from the ship right before it passes through the wormhole. Back at S.T.A.R. Labs, Barry hands Kadabra over to Gypsy. Before the two travel back to Earth-19, Barry pleads with the good part of Kadabra to reveal Savitar’s information. Kadabra scoffs, saying he will take great joy in knowing that he helped lead to Barry’s ultimate despair. Gypsy and Kadabra leave.

Joe apologizes to Iris, saying that he was trying to be strong, but he wishes he had never found out the truth. Poor Joe. He just wants to save his daughter. Barry appears and tells them he knows what he has to do. Savitar is always one step ahead of them because he is from the future. He will always know what Team Flash’s move is. To counter that, Barry will run to the future.

The final scene of the episode is Caitlin and Cisco eating cups of green Jello together when H.R. appears (I was wondering where he was this episode). They are chatting away when Caitlin suddenly starts to seize. Julian runs in as her heart stops. The three of them do all they can to revive her, but it doesn’t work. Caitlin dies. Julian then makes the decision, despite Cisco saying no, to rip off the amulet. They watch as the wound heals. But then Caitlin-excuse me-Killer Frost wakes up.

There are five episodes left until the end of the season. The final pieces are falling into place as we rocket toward the date of Iris’ death. Now that Killer Frost has been born, things are going to get worse for Team Flash. I don’t know how they are going to handle her as none of them will want to do her harm. She is incredibly powerful and as one of the acolytes said, she will become a key figure alongside Savitar. I’m wondering if saving her would unravel Savitar’s master plan.

The Flash will now go on a hiatus (how rude) and will return April 25 with the episode titled ‘The Once and Future Flash.’
